Books and Resources on Burnout

It’s been more than a year since the pandemic started and now we are in this weird “in between” time when things are starting to return to normal but aren’t quite there yet.

In the recent weeks, for many, things have started revving back up. Work demands and opportunities are becoming more frequent and moving at a quicker pace than they have during the last year. But my brain is still in a fog. I’m still trying to make sense of everything and I don’t feel like I can keep up. Can you relate?

This is why I’m so glad we are doing this series on burn out. I recently shared a conversation with Dr. Kate Steiner. Kate specializes in burn out and burn events and tonight (April 1) she is leading us in a burn out workshop. Last week we shared burn out journaling prompts, and in the coming weeks we will be sharing stories from other women about their experiences with burn out, a restorative yoga session, and more.

As I prepare this content, I’m constantly reminded of the burnout warning signs and that my first priority must be caring for my mental health and well-being. It feels selfish and counter-productive at times but when I follow the advice I see the benefits.

This week I asked our panel of mental health professionals for their favorite books and resources on the topic of burn out. They offered up books, TED talks, podcasts, and much more!
